Joe Szwartz, O.D. is a full-scope optometrist, working closely with our ophthalmologists in diagnosing eye problems, disease management, well eye visits, and contact lens fittings along with pre-surgical and post-operative patient care.
A New York State licensed optometrist, Dr. Joe Szwartz received his Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from the College of Optometry at NOVA Southeastern University of Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 2002. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Vassar College, New York in 1996.
Since 2012 Dr. Joe Szwartz has been serving the greater Hudson Valley community within a primary care environment in the New Paltz village of New York through quality optical services and expanded diagnostic and disease management services. Prior to his practice in New Paltz, Dr. Szwartz practiced optometry in Fishkill, New York.
Between 2007 and 2011 Dr. Szwartz held several positions as an optometrist in Jacksonville, Florida where he performed full-scope optometric care at the world renowned Bowden Eye Associates, a cornea, refractive and glaucoma specialty practice. In alliance with medical specialists, Dr. Szwartz has managed pre and post-operative cataracts, corneal transplants and glaucoma filtering surgeries and provided emergency consultation for area optometric, primary care and ophthalmology practices. In addition, Dr. Szwartz performed primary optometric care and specialty contact lens fittings.
Dr. Szwartz is currently a New York State Licensed optometrist with sixteen plus years of clinical experience.
